Guide
Leon Rich Meela
Leon was born near the slopes of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. He is the first male born of Faustin Meela. At the age of 17 he first climbed Kilimanjaro as a scout. He then started to climb and guide on Kilimanjaro at the age of 23 and has reached the summit over 95 times. He went to college in Kenya and obtained a diploma in Tour Guiding in 2007 and completed his First Aid and Mountain Rescue Courses the same year. His experience in tour guiding comes from his hard work and love for hiking in the mountains. After working as a Head Guide for over 10 years, Leon is a favorite of our clients and also the crew, who love to work with him. Over the years, he has become an important figure to his community and around his village of Marangu, creating job access to his fellow young men. It is his dream that he will make his late father proud and become one of the most influential guides who inspires youth in loving the mountains.
