ITINERARY

  • Final Prep & Relaxation Day

    A free day for last-minute preparations, gear adjustments, or simply resting before heading to the ice.

  • Fly to Union Glacier, Antarctica

    Weather permitting, we fly 4 hours south to Union Glacier, landing on a stunning blue-ice runway. After setting up camp, we settle into our first night on the continent.

  • Acclimatization & Ski Prep

    A full day on the ice to test our systems, ski around camp, and adapt to the Antarctic environment before the expedition begins in earnest.

  • Flight into 89° South & Begin Skiing 

    We fly by Twin Otter aircraft to 89°S, 60 nautical miles from the South Pole. After landing, we begin our journey with a short ski to establish camp.

  • Ski to the South Pole

    Over the course of roughly 6 - 7 days, we ski across the polar plateau toward the geographic South Pole. Expect stunning silence, vast horizons, and a deep sense of accomplishment as we near our goal.

  • Return to Union Glacier

    We board our aircraft and fly back to Union Glacier Camp to celebrate our achievement with a hot meal and well-earned rest and showers.

  • Return to Puntas Arenas

    Once the weather window opens, we fly back to Punta Arenas. After a hot shower, we gather for a celebratory dinner to toast the journey.

  • End of Expedition - Depart for Home

    With unforgettable memories in tow, guests depart for home or onward travel.

ITINERARY

Day 01

Arrival in Krasnoyarsk, Russia


Arrive in one of the northern most cities of Russia, where our team will transfer you to the hotel. The journey begins with a team meeting and question and answer session.

Day 02

Gear Check & Expedition Briefing


We prepare equipment and attend a detailed pre-flight briefing with our Arctic logistics partner Vicaar. There's time to explore Krasnoyarsk before our gear is collected and we go on standby for our flight to Borneo Ice Camp.

Day 03

Final Prep & Relaxation Day


A free day for last-minute preparations, gear adjustments, or simply resting before heading to the ice.



Day 04

Fly to Barneo Ice Camp


Weather permitting, we fly 4 hours south to Barneo, landing on a stunning ice runway. After setting up camp, we settle into our first night on the Arctic Sea.

Day 05

Helicopter Flight to 89 Degrees


Weather permitting, we make our way from Barneo Camp to the drop off point, a mere one nautical degree from the North Pole. This is the official starting point for our Ski expedition, where we’ll settle in and begin to move.

Day 06 - 14

Ski Days


Working as a team, we navigate and move forward toward the goal of reaching 90 degrees North.

Day 15

Reach the North Pole


After reaching 90 degrees North Latitude we’ll coordinate the helicopter pick up back to Barneo Camp to rest and recover before our return flight. This marks the end of our ski expedition but the beginning of the journey back.

Day 16

Fixed Wing Back to Russia in Krasnoyarsk


We board our aircraft and fly back to Kia to celebrate our achievement with a hot meal and well-earned rest and showers.

Day 17

Return to Home Flight


Flight back to your home country.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Satellite Communication

While on the ski expedition, we carry two satellite phones to allow occasional connections, depending on battery life, so you can stay in touch when needed.

Navigation tools (GPS, maps)

Our seasoned guides are experts in navigating the challenging Arctic terrain, where precision is crucial. Using GPS waypoints and compass stativ, we skillfully lead the team—navigating efficiently even in white-out conditions—ensuring we stay on course toward our ultimate destination: the North Pole.

Group & safety equipment

Included in your expedition is all essential group safety equipment, carefully selected and refined from years of experience leading polar expeditions. This includes tents, stoves, fuel, safety gear, GPS navigation, and first aid supplies, all overseen by a Wilderness First Responder and polar guide to ensure your safety every step of the way.

All meals (post-Russia)

All meals are included throughout the expedition, except during your time in Russia. In Russia, we provide a welcome dinner, and breakfasts are included as part of your hotel package.


At Barneo Camp, meals are served buffet-style with a wide variety of delicious options to suit all tastes, along with plenty of hot drinks.


While skiing on the Arctic Ocean, we provide freeze-dried breakfasts and dinners along with daily polar skiing lunches, which include energy bars, chocolates, salami, cheese, and other high-calorie snacks to keep you fueled during your expedition.

All permits and fees

The trip cost includes all necessary permits in compliance with the Treaty and environmental agreements, ensuring the expedition meets the highest standards of sustainability and legal requirements for travel in the Arctic.

All Group Expedition Gear

Each team member is provided with high-quality, expedition sleds to use individually. All group tents, cooking items, safety gear etc. is provided.

All programmed transportation

Transfers to and from the airport to take the Arctic Flight will be organized for each person and group gear.

Arctic Ocean tent accommodation

During the expedition, team members will stay in high-quality Polar Ski tents (2 people per 3-person tent) while at Barneo and throughout the journey.

Flights

Included in the expedition are all Arctic flights: round-trip air travel from Krasnoyarsk to Barneo Camp aboard a fixed wing, landing on the ice runway. Internal polar flights to and from the the start and finish are operated by Helicopter aircraft, depending on conditions and logistics.

WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED

Personal expenses

Personal expenses include any small purchases in Krasnoyarsk, such as extra food, supplies, or taxis, as well as any items you may wish to buy.

Personal clothing & gear

Team members are responsible for arriving with the required personal clothing and equipment for the expedition. Upon signing up, we provide a detailed gear list and are always available to offer advice or answer any questions about what to bring, ensuring you're fully prepared for the journey.

Personal travel insurance

All team members on the expedition are required to have rescue/evacuation insurance. Upon signing up, we provide a list of recommended insurance providers that specialize in covering Arctic Ocean ski trips, ensuring you're fully protected for the journey.

Krasnoyarsk, Russia lodging

Lodging in Krasnoyarsk is not included in the trip cost, as delays are possible and may require additional nights or changes to hotel accommodations. We recommend staying at our chosen group hotel for its prime location and access to amenities, making any adjustments smoother if unexpected delays occur.

Staff Gratuities

In your information PDF we will give recommendations for bringing money for tipping the trip staff, for a worry free planning.

Food & drinks in Krasnoyarsk

Outside of the one “welcome dinner” as a team and breakfasts provided by the hotel, all meals are on your own while in the city.

International flights to/from Krasnoyarsk

The cost of your international flights to and from , is not included in the expedition price. This means you are responsible for researching, booking, and covering the expenses of your flights from your home country (or starting location) to Krasnoyarsk and your return journey after the expedition concludes.
